I did the UNTHINKABLE......I took 10 days off!!! No work, no photo shoots, nothing.....and on Thanksgiving weekend!!! And guess what? It felt SO good!!! It has been a year since I have seen my Dad, (my mom has come for 2 visits in the past year) and I wasn't going to let even a day go by without taking advantage of every possible moment. Even our families first 5k on Thanksgiving morning. My Dad (a marathon runner) Taylor, myself, and my Brother in law Mike. ***warning*** I had terrible vertigo so Jason took all of the photos. I am so thankful to have them!!! It is the memories that matter the most!!!
Taylor even ran into one of her best girlfriends who had just spent the last night texting each other and didn't even know they would both be at the race!!! So fun Madison!!!
Mike finished first.....I think around 21 min.
Taylor finished 2nd...at about 28 min....just 10 seconds ahead of my dad...she was 15 seconds away from getting 3rd place in her age category....but because she stayed a bit slower for my dad we called her our 3rd place winner!!!!
Dad finished 2nd in his age category.......going for first next year!!! So amazing!!!!!
And then there was me!!! See that sign...it says "FINISH" and that is what I did. Having vertigo that morning it was a challenge, but I did finish....it may have taken me 45 min, but I did it!! Next time I hope to see a better time. :)
And then there was a kids race. So Zack, Tyler, and Owen all raced!!!!
What a fabulous visit. I love my Mom and Dad so much. They are both examples of hard work, dedication, sacrifice, unconditional love, easy going, fun loving, my best friends, the BEST people to take to see funny movies!!!! The kids Christmas present to my Mom and Dad was to go and see "Old Dogs"....now if you were at Harkins 101 on November 28th at 1:40....then yes we were the ones that the whole theater could hear laughing. Jason and I were laughing so hard we were crying, partly because of the movie and partly because of my parents laughing so hard. As people were walking out they were taking a glance and laughing at us. Oh such fun times. These are the times that we will always remember.
As the last day of November I am Thankful for my parents. I am Thankful for the time they took to come out and visit, eventhough times are hard....harder would have been having to go any longer without a hug and a kiss from my parents. Thank you!!!! I love you both so very much!!! I am so glad that we have the play tonight, so I can stop crying, saying goodbye is always so hard, I just try to get them off and on the plane before I start with the tears!!
